The Legal Requirements
Your legal requirements to make sure your fixed wiring is safe are set out in the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
They require anyone responsible for electrical systems at work to ensure that electricity is used, maintained, and worked on safely, with competent people, suitable equipment, effective protection against electric shock and fire, and a strong preference for working on isolated (dead) systems rather than live ones.
